The ever-rare Ford Expedition NBX
The NBX (off-road) model was
introduced in 2004 to replace the FX/4 pkg offered in 2003.
Although officially continued into the 2005 model year, Ford stopped
offering them in November 2004. So, it's unlikely you'll see many
out on (or off) the road.
Basically an XLT model, the NBX included some unique features:
Skid plates
Chromed steel wheels (no tire pressure monitor!)
Black surround headlights
Rubber floormats
Vinyl cargo liner
Black nerf bars
Luggage rack with cross braces
Painted "Red Fire" with a 5.4L engine, tow pkg., 4WD, and a minimal amount of electronic doo-dads to break, the new "mom mobile" should provide years of school bus service. Mods to date are tinted windows and Toyo OpenCountry A/T tires. But don't worry, there will be more in the future.
